Last-Minute Event Venue in Bedford and Halifax: Call Today

If your event is in the next two weeks and you have just lost your venue, call us at 902-404-6778 and tell us the date and the headcount. We can usually tell you within the hour whether we can take it.

That is the short version. The rest of this page is for the person who is still standing in the parking lot trying to figure out what just happened.

This happens more than anyone admits

Nobody plans to book a venue at the last minute. The people who call us in a hurry were organized. They booked months ago. Then something moved.

The reasons we hear, in roughly the order we hear them:

  • The venue double-booked the date. It happens at hotels, halls and restaurants alike, and it usually surfaces about ten days out.
  • The guest list outgrew the room. Forty people became sixty-five and the space that was fine in June is not fine now.
  • Someone forgot to book. A group chat agreed on a date in August and everyone assumed someone else had confirmed it.
  • The relationship soured. A price that changed after the deposit, a manager who stopped answering, a set of rules that appeared late. People leave.
  • A price increase landed after the quote. A revised invoice arrives and the budget no longer works.
  • The event itself moved. A promotion date, a flight, a family schedule. The date shifted and the original venue could not shift with it.

None of these are your fault, and none of them mean the event is off. They mean you need a room and you need it fast.

What we can do in a few days

We are a craft beer, wine, cocktail and whisky bar in West Bedford, Nova Scotia, and we host private and semi-private events every week of the year. Because we do not run a kitchen, there is no catering deadline to miss. That is the main reason we can move quickly when other venues cannot.

A short-notice booking looks like this:

Semi-private, up to about 80 seated plus room to stand. We reserve a section of the room for your group while the venue stays open to the public. No rental fee, no minimum spend. This is the format that can often be confirmed in a single phone call.

Fully private, up to 125 guests. The whole room is yours from 7:30pm to midnight. This runs on a minimum drink spend rather than a rental fee, and availability depends on the night. Weeknights and Sundays are usually the ones still open on short notice.

Daytime private bookings are an hourly rate and are often the easiest thing to fit in quickly.

What we need from you

Three things, and you can tell us all of them on the phone:

  1. The date and a rough time.
  2. A headcount. A range is fine. Most groups land near the low end of whatever range they give us.
  3. What kind of event it is. A birthday, a staff party, a retirement, an engagement party, a fundraiser. It changes the setup, not the answer.

Groups of fewer than 30 do not need a card on file. Larger groups do, and we will explain the single number that applies to you, with no surprises later.

Food is the fastest part

At most venues, food is the reason a last-minute booking fails. The kitchen needs a week, the menu needs a tasting, the per-plate count locks in early.

We have no kitchen, which turns out to be the entire advantage. Your options, all of which work with a day’s notice:

  • Order in. Our QR ordering system is connected to more than twenty nearby restaurants. Guests order what they want to their own table.
  • Bring it in. Pizza, platters, a cake, whatever your group actually eats. We have a large walk-in fridge if anything needs to be kept cold, and we handle the cleanup.
  • Book a caterer. Happy to send some suggestions if you would like them. Several local caterers can turn around a group order in two or three days.

Because the food is yours to arrange, it is almost always cheaper than the restaurant package you just lost.

What the room gives you

  • 19+ throughout, so the atmosphere stays adult all night
  • Room to move. Guests can mingle between tables and talk to everyone, which a restaurant layout does not allow
  • A microphone for speeches, and basic audio and video by arrangement
  • Live music or a playlist. Bring a performer, subject to approval, or send us a playlist and we will run it
  • Free parking right outside, and cars can stay overnight
  • A central location in West Bedford, ten to twenty minutes from most of Bedford, Sackville, Hammonds Plains and Halifax, with no downtown parking to solve
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • 36 rotating taps, cocktails under $15, a curated wine list served from the bottle, rare whisky, and one of the largest non-alcoholic selections in Atlantic Canada

A note on December

If your staff Christmas party has just lost its venue, call anyway. Our December calendar is largely booked from the last week of November through Tibb’s Eve, but cancellations happen on our end too, and mid-week dates open up more often than people expect. We keep a short list of groups looking for a December date and we call the moment one appears.

Frequently asked questions

How much notice do you need for a private event? For a semi-private booking, sometimes as little as a day or two. For a fully private booking, it depends on the night, but we have confirmed them inside a week.

Is there a rush fee for last-minute bookings? No. The pricing is the same as it would be for a booking made six months out.

Can you handle food on short notice? Yes. We do not run a kitchen, so there is no catering deadline. Order in from more than twenty nearby restaurants, bring your own, or use a caterer.

Do we need to put down a deposit? No deposit. Groups of 30 or more provide a card to hold the date, and we will tell you the one cancellation figure that applies.

Do you allow children? No. We are a 19+ venue.
